S.Korea to extend anti-dumping duties on ethyl acetate imports
Last Updated(Beijing Time):2012-03-26 14:28

South Korea will extend anti- dumping duties on ethyl acetate imported from China, Japan and Singapore for three more years in a bid to protect local manufacturers, the finance ministry said Monday.

Anti-dumping tariffs ranging from 3.14 percent to 14.17 percent will be imposed on ethyl acetate imported from China, Japan and Singapore for three years starting Tuesday, according to the Ministry of Strategy and Finance.

The tariff rate was down from 5.81-14.17 percent taxes imposed on ethyl acetate imported from China, Japan and Singapore for three years since Aug. 2008. Ethyl acetate is an industrial material used in making paint and glue.

The Korea Trade Commission recommended re-imposing anti- dumping duties to the finance ministry after local companies requested extending the duties for protection from cheap imports.

Punitive duties of 14.17 percent will be imposed on ethyl acetate manufactured by Chinese firms, including Shanghai Wujing Chemical, Chem Specialist and Jiangyin Golden Bridge Chemical. The rate for Jinyimeng Group was set at 5.29 percent, with those for Rizhao Jiahong Biological Technology and Jiangsu SOPO Corporation set at 3.14 percent and 3.71 percent respectively.

The anti-dumping duties of 14.17 percent were slapped on products made by all the Japanese and Singaporean firms.
