| Philippine jobless rate in 1st quarter hits record high: survey |

The number of jobless adults in the Philippines increased in January to March, according to a recent survey released by local research institute Social Weather Stations (SWS).
The SWS survey results for the first quarter showed that adult unemployment rate for the Philippines reached 34.4 percent.
The unemployment rate for January to March this year surpassed the 34.2 percent recorded in February 2009 and is 10 points higher than the 24 percent recorded in the fourth quarter of 2011.
The latest SWS survey was conducted from March 10 to 13 using face to face interviews of 1,200 adults in the islands of Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. |
