The shipping of Indonesia oil and gas to overseas rose by 2.74 percent to 29.12 billion U.S. dollars at the first quarter this year on a yearly basis, a minister said here on Monday.

Industry Minister MS Hidayat told a hearing with lawmakers that the performance of the industries was still needed to be improved.

He said that the outlooks of the non-oil and gas exports in the first three months were seasonally low. "Besides, the global debt crisis in Europe has impacted on the performance of the exports of industrial products," he was quoted by Bisnis Indonesia as saying.

The minister said that foreign direct investment at the industries reached 2.31 billion U.S. dollars in the first quarter.

Nevertheless, he said that the importation of industrial products rose by 17.93 percent to 33.06 billion U.S. dollars in the period while deficit reached 14.25 billion U.S. dollars.
