Australian building approvals fall 8.7 pct in April |

The number of dwellings approved in Australia fell 8.7 percent in April, following a rise of 6.0 percent in March, figures released on Thursday by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) showed.
Dwelling approvals fell in April in Western Australia, South Australia, New South Wales and Queensland, but increased in Victoria and Tasmania, the ABS said.
In the year to April, Australian residential building approvals were down 24.1 percent.
Economists' forecasts had centered on a 0.5 percent rise for total building approvals in April. |
