France's May household consumption up 0.4 % |

French household consumption in goods rose by 0.4 percent in May, slightly down from 0.7 percent recorded a month earlier on boosted sales of textile, French national statistics institute Insee said on Friday.
Last month, French consumers' expenditure in textile surged sharply by 11 percent compared to 9.9-percent drop in April due following unfavourable weather to purchases of spring-summer clothing.
However, they had consumed less energy products, mainly gas and electricity which fell by 3.3 percent at the end of May due to warm weather.
After losing 1.8 percent in April, expenditure in car purchases rose by 1.9 percent pulling the consumption of durable products up to 0.4 percent, the report said.
Consumption of manufactured products accounts for 25 percent of the country's total consumption of processed goods and services. |
