France narrows May trade deficit

France's trade deficit narrowed in May helped by growing exports, especially buoyant sales of transport equipments, customs figures showed on Friday.

The country's trade deficit improved by 500 million euros (618.95 million U.S.dollars) to 5.32 billion euros, according to data released by French customs services.

The value of sales abroad stood at 37.44, pulled higher by good performance of transport equipments' exports and better trade results with Amerian market.

Airbus generated 1.58 billion euros after offering 22 aircrafts in May, compared with 28 units worth 2.23 billion euros sold in April.

Imports was stable at 42.76 billion euros as "net contraction of crude oil supplies...compensated the increase of pharmaceutical and aero purchases."

For the past 12 months, the cumulated trade deficit narrowed to 67.55 billion euros in total compared to 70.79 billion euros reported in 2011.(1 euro = 1.237 U.S. dollar)
