French inflation stable in June: report
Last Updated(Beijing Time):2012-07-12 19:23

France's consumer prices index (CPI), a key gauge of inflation, remained stable in June following a decrease of 0.1 percent in May, national statistics bureau Insee said Thursday.

Year on year, the inflation rate slowed to 1.9 percent, Insee said.

"In June, decreases and increases offset each other: prices of energy went down, while prices of food products and tourist services went up," Insee said in a monthly report.

Following the start of summer season, service prices, including transportation and tourism, rose by 0.3 percent while energy costs reported a 2.1-percent fall.

Food prices were up by 0.4 percent, with prices of fresh fruits surging by 11.8 percent as unfavorable weather conditions fuelled prices, according to the report.

As for manufactured goods, costs inched up by 0.1 percent, with clothing and shoes prices up by 0.6 percent.
