The Gulf Arab region's sole naval warship builder Abu Dhabi Ship Building (ADSB) said Wednesday at the ongoing five-day International Defense Exhibition (IDEX) that it won the Kuwait Navy's future landing craft program without disclosing the price.
ADSB, owned by Abu Dhabi sovereign wealth fund Mubadala, said in a statement that the program involves the supply of two 64- meter-long landing crafts, one 42-meter-long landing craft and five 15-meter-long composite fast landing crafts, adding that all vessels will be constructed by ADSB's facility in Abu Dhabi.
The program will last approximately 24 months and the construction is to start in mid-2013.
Meanwhile, investors reacted positively to the announcement, as ADSB shares, listed at the local Abu Dhabi bourse ADX, traded 1.40 percent higher at 1.45 Dirham (0.39 U.S. dollars) Wednesday.
The IDEX 2013 hosts 1,112 exhibiting companies from 59 countries and will close on Feb. 21.
