Palace Museum holds special exhibition to celebrate Spring Festival
The Palace Museum is hosting a special exhibition featuring a wide variety of "Ruyi," a traditional Chinese ornament symbolizing auspiciousness and good luck, to celebrate the Spring Festival which fell on Feb. 12 this year.
A total of 158 pieces and sets of exhibits were selected from the 2,000-plus Ruyi scepters collected by the Palace Museum, aiming to offer a glimpse of the richness and diversity of the ornaments.
Dating back to the Ming (1368-1644) and Qing (1644-1911) dynasties, the Ruyi ornaments on display are made of various materials such as jade, bamboo, wood, metal and porcelain.
The exhibition, scheduled to run through May 9, is open to the public by prior arrangement to avoid overcrowding, according to the museum.
