The Ukrainian parliament on Friday approved Andriy Pyshnyi as central bank chief, a senior lawmaker said.
The nomination of the 47-year-old banker, which was submitted by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, was endorsed by 290 lawmakers in the 450-seat assembly, Yaroslav Zheleznyak, the first deputy of the parliament's finance, tax and customs policy committee, wrote on Telegram.
Pyshnyi formerly served as head of Ukraine's state-run Oschadbank. At the parliament meeting, Pyshnyi said he will continue the policy of monetary restrictions during martial law and cooperation with international financial organizations with the aim of attracting new funding for Ukraine.
Former chief of the National Bank of Ukraine Kyrylo Shevchenko resigned on Tuesday, citing health reasons.
