Lin hopes to see a best-form Lee in Olympics
Last Updated(Beijing Time):2012-05-23 13:51

Chinese "Super Dan" Lin Dan said on the sideline of the Thomas Cup badminton championship on Tuesday that he hoped to see world No. 1 Lee Chong Wei back in top form at the Olympic Games.

Lee Chong Wei, leading 2-1 in the first set, twisted his right ankle at the start of his afternoon match against Danish veteran Peter Gade. Malaysia was beaten 3-2 to witness Denmark top Group C.

The 29-year-old then lay down on the court with tears in the eyes. After receiving basic therapy, Lee retired from the match and went to the hospital in wheelchair. He then pulled out of the whole competition and planned to head home on Wednesday.

"With Olympics around the corner, I hope Lee can be back in his best form in London, because it may be the last Olympics for me, for him, for Taufik Hidayat (of Indonesia) and also Peter Gade," said the Chinese top player who referred to Lee as an "old friend".

Lin, 28, breezed through Indonesian world No. 9 Simon Santoso with a score of 21-10, 21-17 to earn one point for the reigning champion China.
