Nothing serious in Lee Chong Wei's injury
Last Updated(Beijing Time):2012-05-25 09:35

Diagnosis showed that Malaysia's world No. 1 Lee Chong Wei's ankle injury is nothing serious but needs a two to three weeks' rest.

Lee on Tuesday unexpectedly twisted his right ankle at the start of his match against Danish veteran Peter Gade. When leading 2-0 in the first set, Lee hit the shuttle at the back court but twisted his right ankle.

Lee quit the Thomas Cup after the injury and went back to Malaysia to receive therapy. According to the diagnosis result shown on Thursday, Lee's ankle is not serious.

"He just needs to rest for two or three weeks before going back to training," said Joe Lee, Chong Wei's brother, in his twitter-like tencent microblog.

Lee Chong Wei lost to China's Lin Dan in the final at the Beijing Olympic Games. With two months ahead of the London Olympic Games, Lee's injury puts his preparation for the Olympics in doubt.

Without Lee, Malaysia lost to China in the quarterfinals 3-0 at the Thomas Cup on Wednesday.
