ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA) leaders on Tuesday urged ASEAN heads of state to stick to peaceful ways in solving dispute.

The suggestion was made during a meeting between the ASEAN's government leaders led by Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen and AIPA leaders led by Indonesia's Parliamentary speaker Marzuki Alie at the 20th ASEAN Summit held in Phnom Penh, the capital of Cambodia, during April 3-4.

"We suggested the ASEAN leaders to stick to peaceful means and comply with the international and regional laws in case of any dispute," Cheam Yeap, chairman of banking and finance at Cambodia' s National Assembly, told reporters after the meeting without specifically identifying any country.

"Moreover, we urged ASEAN leaders to further strengthen the bloc's three pillars--economics, politics, and socio-cultures," he said.

Speaking at the meeting, Hun Sen hailed ASEAN's parliaments for their constant efforts in making laws, a key element to ensure security and social order.

Meanwhile, the premier, as ASEAN chair, asked all ASEAN parliaments that each government's budget law in ASEAN to be passed timely in order to enable respective government to implement its development plans as schedule.

The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) groups Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.
