Last Updated(Beijing Time):2012-01-04 18:04

French households' consumption in goods dropped by 0.1 percent in November as energy and textile purchases slowed, national statistics institute Insee said on Wednesday.

At the end of November, French consumers spent less to buy energy goods as mild temperature pulled down expenditures in fuel and electricity by 0.8 percent, Insee noted in its monthly report.

Consumption of textile and leather products fell by 2.1 percent in November after it had risen by 3.7 percent a month earlier, the report added.

As to car purchases, French households were more interested to buy cars over the period during which expenditure in vehicles rose by 3.2 percent, compared to 1.1 percent decrease in October.

France estimated an inflation rate at 1.7 percent in 2012, down from an expected 2.1 percent in 2011.
