Eurozone producer price index up by 0.2 PCT in November 2011

The industrial producer prices index rose by 0.2 percent in eurozone nations in November 2011 as compared with October, according to a report published by Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union (EU), on Thursday.

The indices for EU 27 nations rose by 0.3 percent, according to the report, while those for eurozone 17 nations and 27-member EU rose 5.3 percent and 6.3 percent respectively on an annual base in November.

The report showed that prices in total industry excluding energy sector decreased by 0.1 percent in eurozone area and remained stable in EU on a monthly base.

In both zones, non-durable consumer goods gained 0.3 percent monthly, while durable consumer goods gained 0.2 percent. Capital goods remained stable in eurozone and rose by 0.1 percent in EU. Meanwhile, intermediate goods fell by 0.4 percent and 0.3 percent respectively.

As for annual changes, prices in total industry excluding the energy sector increased by 3.0 percent in eurozone and by 3.3 percent in EU, prices in energy sector gained 12.3 percent and 13.8 percent respectively.

Prices for non-durable goods increased by 3.6 percent in eurozone and 4.2 percent in EU, while capital goods gained 1.4 percent in the eurozone and 1.5 percent in the EU and durable goods gained by 2.6 percent in both zones.
