German exports up by 8.3 pct in November 2011

German exports in November 2011 rose by 8.3 percent year on year, official data showed on Monday.

Germany exported commodities worth 94.9 billion euros (120.5 billion U.S. dollars) in November, the Wiesbaden-based Federal Statistics Office said.

Exports rose by 2.5 percent month on month in seasonally-adjusted figures, exceeding economists' prediction of a 0.5-percent increase.

Meanwhile, imports reached 78.7 billion euros (100 billion dollars) in November, up by 6.7 percent year on year but down by 0.4 percent compared with October.

In the 11 months to November, the country's exports rose by 12.1 percent compared with a year earlier to 976 billion euros (1,239.6 billion dollars), while imports were up by 13.8 percent to 829.6 billion euros (1,053.7 billion dollars), increasing the trade surplus to 146.4 billion euros (186.0 billion dollars).
