Australia's final PPI up 0.5 pct in June quarter |

Australia's producer price index ( PPI) at the final stage of production rose 0.5 percent in the June quarter, following a 0.3 percent fall in the March quarter, the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) reported Monday.
Over the year to the June quarter 2012, the PPI at the final stage of production rose 1.1 percent, the ABS said.
In the June quarter at the intermediate stage, the PPI was up 0. 7 percent, while at the preliminary stage it rose 0.9 percent.
Through the year to the June quarter, the PPI at the intermediate stage as well as at the preliminary stage rose 1.4 percent, the ABS data showed.
Economists' had forecast a 0.3 percent rise in the June quarter.
Australian economists said the weaker Australian dollar had driven the PPI up in the June quarter. |
