Restoring trust is the way out of the ongoing eurozone debt crisis, several European leaders said Thursday.
"The crisis is not only an economic crisis, but also a crisis of trust. What we shall do is to restore trust," said Polish President Bronislaw Komorowski in a public debate at the World Economic Forum in Davos.
Finland's Prime Minister Jyrki Katainen also blamed crisis in recent years for lack of confidence and focus on what Europe should do, as well as inter-wrangling between institutions politicians and national leaders.
"Lack of trust was obvious not only in the market, but also between leaders in national governments," he said. He hoped European leaders could focus on the potential of the single market within the EU in the upcoming summit.
Their view was echoed by Irish Prime Minister Enda Kenny.
"One of issues is to retain our confidence, we can't achieve growth without confidence," said Kenny.
"Ireland is a good example of a nation in crisis can gain confidence back by doing good policies," he said.
He also called for "community method and a better and more efficient EU." |
