The economic sentiment indicator for Germany fell by 2.2 points in July, a survey showed on Tuesday.

The indicator stood at 36.3 in July, 2.2 points below the level in June, according to the survey conducted by German economic research institute ZEW, or Center for European Economic Research.

Commenting on the result, ZEW President Clemens Fuest said financial market experts still stick to their positive forecast.

"This illustrates their confidence in the robustness of the German economy despite the rather weak figures concerning industrial production and foreign trade released recently," he said.

The economic expectations indicator for the eurozone improved slightly by 2.2 points in July to 32.8 points.
