Eurozone construction output down by 1.5 pct in May
The eurozone's seasonally-adjusted production in the construction sector fell by 1.5 percent in May, compared with the previous month, the European Union's (EU) statistics office Eurostat said on Thursday.
The figure rose by 3.5 percent in the eurozone year on year.
Meanwhile, in the 28-member EU, production in construction sector decreased by 1.6 percent in May, as compared to April, and up by 3.2 percent compared to a year ago.
In April, construction production in the eurozone and the EU rose by 0.4 percent and 0.3 percent respectively.
Among EU member states, the largest decreases in construction output were observed in Germany at 4.9 percent, Poland at 3.9 percent, while the greatest increase was registered in Hungary at 2.3 percent.
