The unemployment rate in Slovakia reached 12.78 percent in June, which was down 0.02 percentage points in a monthly comparison and 1.47 percent lower on a yearly basis.
General director of the Labour, Social Affairs and the Family Centre Marian Valentovic announced the data at a press conference on Monday.
The unemployment rates fell in five out of eight regions in Slovakia in June, most significantly in Nitra region.
The Labour, Social Affairs and Family Minister Jan Richter sees positive trend in rising of employment. "From January 2013 until the end of June of this year the increase represents 76,000 new employees, which is very positive," stressed Richter.
Although the unemployment rate in Slovakia continued to post only a slight drop in June 2014 compared to the beginning of this year, the Slovakia's central bank(NBS) is optimistic because of the increasing number of vacancies.
