British house sales reached 109,580 in June, marking the highest level since 2007, data from the British HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) showed Tuesday.

HMRC said sales in June 2014 and November 2013 were the highest since the pre-recession housing boom in June 2007.

With house price rising quickly, the housing market has been a key topic of debate in Britain.

To cool the surging market, the Bank of England announced a cap on large mortgages and more stringent stress tests for potential house-buyers.

However, some estate agents have suggested that the market is showing signs of slowing down.

The National Association of Estate Agents (NAEA) said that very few buyers are aged below 30. The number of buyers aged 18 to 30 constituted 3 percent of recorded sales for June, said NAEA.

They added that the number of first-time buyers was down 20 percent from the previous month to its lowest level since May 2013.
