Ukraine on Tuesday expressed the hope to increase grain exports to China, as Beijing issued a green light to the import of wheat, soybeans and barley from Ukraine.

"Previously, we have the right to supply the Chinese market only with corn, but now we got the permission to export wheat, soybeans and barley to China," Ukrainian Agriculture Minister Mykola Prysyazhnuk said at a press conference here, without giving details.

Prysyazhnuk also said Ukraine has the potential to supply the global market with some 30 million tons of grain in the current marketing year, which ends in June 2014.

In an effort to encourage grain exports, the government maintains an active dialogue with grain traders and prepares a series of measures that will reduce logistics and certification costs of supplies, Prysyazhnuk said.

He added that Ukraine's grain exports in the first two months of the current marketing season were up 16 percent year-on-year to 3.8 million tons.
