Confidence rises among bankcard owners
Confidence among China's bankcard owners climbed in the past month due to relatively strong travel demand.
The Bankcard Consumer Confidence Index climbed 0.56 in June from a month ago to 85.27 points as expenditures on dining, entertainment and travel picked up ahead of the summer, China UnionPay, the country's sole bankcard transaction firm, said in a report yesterday.
Spending at entertainment venues climbed 1.12 percent from a month ago as people spent more money on dining and drinking during the World Cup.
Spending at domestic travel agents jumped 17.52 percent in June from a month ago since summer is usually a busy travel season. Spending on flights rose 13.06 percent last month compared to May.
