China Mobile users in Shanghai will be able to make reservations starting today for the first batch of handsets that are compatible with the 4G network.
The pricing for Shanghai Mobile's 4G data package was also unveiled.
There are five kinds of packages and the cheapest offers 600M of data traffic at 50 yuan (US$8.20) and the most expensive costs 180 yuan for 5G of traffic.
Shanghai Mobile also offers additional data package at 10 yuan for 100M traffic.
The first two 4G models available to Shanghai Mobile users are Samsung and Sony.
China last week issued long-awaited 4G licenses to three telecommunications carriers, which would offer mobile Internet access 20 to 50 times faster than the current 3G network and create a new trillion-yuan market for devices and services.
Real-time registered China Mobile users can make a reservation at 17 outlets to buy new handsets to run on the 4G network without changing their phone numbers.
