Macao's Q2 retail sales up 30 pct |

Results of an official survey released on Monday showed that Macao's retail sales for the second quarter of 2012 amounted to 12.74 billion patacas, increasing by 30 percent year-on-year.
Notable increases were recorded in the retail sales of watches, clocks and jewelry (32 percent), goods in department stores (13 percent) and leather goods (10 percent), according to the results of an industry survey conducted by Macao's Statistics and Census Service (DSEC).
In comparison with the revised figure for the first quarter, retail sales for the second quarter dropped by three percent, with marked decrease in retail sales of adults' clothing (-24 percent), communication equipment (-20 percent) and leather goods (-11 percent), the figure showed.
Total retail sales registered an increase of 21 percent year-on- year in the first half of 2012. |
