China Consumers' Association (CCA) released a ranking of 25 air purifiers on its website Monday.

The rankings comprise 21 house purifiers and four car purifiers, from three Chinese brands and 15 non-Chinese ones.

According to a test run by the Chinese household appliances supervision and inspection center, the air purifiers had very different air purification abilities and high prices did not ensure good air quality, CCA said on its website.

The test involved checking the devices' ability to remove particles and formaldehyde from the air.

The best purifiers in terms of removing particles are those from 3M, Broad and Samsung, while the best in terms of removing formaldehyde are from Philips, Daikin, 3M, Samsung and Panasonic.
