Road traffic up 5 pct during Spring Festival
The number of road travelers in China is expected to hit 433 million during the week-long Spring Festival holiday, up 5 percent from last year's holiday, said the Ministry of Transport on Thursday
Snowstorms that started to fall on Tuesday have disrupted road traffic, but the country has not reported any major road accidents and the traffic has generally been orderly, the ministry said.
Passenger flows peaked on Thursday, the last day of the holiday, with 92.3 million trips made on the road, up 8 percent year on year, the ministry said.
The Spring Festival, or Chinese Lunar New Year, is traditionally a time for family reunions across the nation.
