Macao's hotel occupancy rate at 85.6 pct in July

The average occupancy rate of Macao's hotels reached 85.6 percent in July 2012, with four-star hotels leading at 90.1 percent, according to the figures released Friday by Macao's Statistics and Census Service (DSEC).

At the end of July, the total number of available guest rooms in the local hotel sector increased by 11.1 percent year on year to 24,235 rooms, guest rooms of the five-star hotels accounted for 61 percent of the total, the DSEC figures indicated.

A total of 875,640 guests checked into hotels and guest-houses in July, an increase of 10 percent year on year. The average length of stay decreased by 0.18 nights to 1.2 nights.

In the first seven months of 2012, the number of guests increased by 11.8 percent year on year to 5,351,950. Occupancy rate of hotels and guest-houses stood at 82.1 percent, down by 0.9 percentage points.
