Death toll in SW China road accident hits 11
The death toll in a coach accident in southwest China's Sichuan Province on Friday has risen to 11, local authorities said Saturday.
The accident occurred at 5:30 p.m., when a coach flipped over into a 100-meter-deep roadside slope nearby the Shibao Township, Luzhou City, said the Sichuan Provincial Administration of Work Safety.
The administration said seven people died on the spot, while four others died in the hospital after treatments failed. Eighteen others are receiving medical treatment, and none are in life-threatening condition.
An initial probe found that 29 people were in the 30-passenger coach at the time of the accident.
The cause of the accident is under investigation.
