Chinese railway police forces caught a total of 6,805 escaped convicts and uncovered 4,883 criminal cases during the just-ended summer transport period, from July 1 to Aug. 31, according to sources with the Railway Police Bureau.

In the past two months, railway police units nationwide stepped up actions against criminal activities involving stealing and swindling, at railway stations and on trains.

Meanwhile, railway police worked hard to check and prevent fires and explosions. Over 872,900 inflammable or explosive items as well as two guns, 971 imitation guns and 68,080 knives were captured during the police action.
