A wall collapsed in heavy rain killing 18 people and injuring three in Qingdao on Sunday morning.

A retaining wall collapsed 5:48 am onto temporary housing for workers at a processing site for a Shandong renewable resource company at Huangdao Island, the East China city's government information office announced on its official microblog.

The wall collapsed after a rainstorm caused waterlogging at the site. Rain has inundated more than 10 provincial regions since Thursday.

Two people were killed in a rainstorm that forced the relocation of more than 54,000 residents of Hunan Province and Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, authorities said Sunday.

Heavy rains started to batter Hunan on Thursday, disrupting traffic, power, telecommunications and raising water levels in major rivers and reservoirs, said the office of the provincial flood control headquarters.

Shenzhen in South China suffered its strongest storms since 2008. Some 5,000 buses cannot operate normally and water reached the roofs of more than 2,000 vehicles.
