A total of 302 youth artists from 13 countries gathered in Beijing Saturday as part of the Ninth China International Folk Art Festival.
As a parallel venue, there will be seven shows in the capital city. The festival kicked off on Sept. 5 at the main venue in Yichang, central China's Hubei Province.
Artists from the U.S, Russia, Senegal, Egypt, Czech Republic, among other countries will perform in theaters and plazas.
Senegalese artist Cheikh, 25, is performing with 11 members of his folk dance troupe. It is his fourth time in Beijing.
"Our performances are welcomed by the Chinese audience every time," Cheikh said.
Since 1990, the festival has attracted 3,000 artists of 126 art groups from 55 countries. This year's event is scheduled to last 20 days.
