Senior Communist Party of China (CPC) leader Liu Yunshan on Wednesday met with a group of senior officers of Chama Cha Mapinduzi, Tanzania's ruling political party.

The group was headed by the party's secretary-general Abdulrahman Kinana.

Liu, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, said China and Tanzania have supported each other and enjoyed close cooperation for a long time.

He said President Xi Jinping will visit Tanzania during his first trip abroad since being elected as president, adding that the trip will bolster bilateral relations.

Briefing the guests on the recent meetings of China's legislature and top political advisory body, Liu spoke of the "Chinese dream" Xi mentioned in his speech, adding that achieving the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation will require collective efforts from the Chinese people.

Kinana said he is confident that China will achieve the "Chinese dream."

"My country is excited at the news of Xi's visit," Kinana said, adding that the upcoming visit reflects China's willingness to attach great importance to developing relations with Tanzania and Africa.

Wang Jiarui, vice chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and head of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, also attended the meeting.
