Turkey attaches great importance to its relations with China and adheres to the one-China policy, President Abdullah Gul said on Wednesday at new Chinese ambassador's credential presentation ceremony.
Speaking to China's new Ambassador to Turkey Yu Hongyang, who arrived in Ankara on July 1, Gul conveyed his cordial greetings and good wishes to Chinese President Xi Jinping, hoping that Turkey and China will jointly promote the development of bilateral strategic partnership.
The president also hoped that during Yu's term in Turkey, he will work hard for the development of Turkey-China relations of strategic cooperation to benefit the two countries and peoples.
For his part, Yu conveyed Xi's greetings to Gul. He recalled Gul's state visit to China in 2009 and Xi's successful visit to Turkey in 2012, saying the visits deepened bilateral strategic partnership, strengthened mutual political trust, enhanced pragmatic cooperation and cultural exchanges between the two countries.
Yu stressed that during his tenure he will make every effort to further deepen bilateral strategic partnership as well as the friendship between the two peoples.
