China's top legislature will offer legal support as the country deepens reform in a comprehensive manner, a spokeswoman for the annual session of National People's Congress said Tuesday.

Deepening reform is the most important theme of the Chinese society, Fu Ying said at a press conference.

She said lawmakers would enact new laws, and modify or abolish existing laws in areas of great public concerns, so that the country's major reform efforts would have sufficient legal basis.

The second session of the 12th National People's Congress will convene on Wednesday.
