Media outlets in Taiwan have hailed the announcement of a leaders' meeting between the Communist Party of China and Kuomintang next month. Some have reported that the meeting will help stabilize cross-strait ties, and open up new prospects.

The Want Daily said in an editorial that the Kuomintang has worked together with the Chinese mainland for the peaceful and stable ties, under the basis of the 1992 Consensus. It added that KMT Chairman Eric Chu has said he will let Taiwan people share the benefits of cross-strait interactions. The article calls on the chairman to usher in new fields, achieve win-win results, and contribute to the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.

The China Times also published an editorial, which hails the upcoming meeting as a historic transition. It pointed out the cross-strait relations have now entered a deep-water area, and expressed the hope that the meeting would help bridge the gap, and promote ties to a higher level.
