Libya's ruling National Transitional Council (NTC) has not officially demanded Algeria hand over relatives of fallen Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi, who fled the strife-torn country last July, a source in Algeria confirmed on Tuesday.

The local Echorouk newspaper quoted Tuesday a "reliable source" as saying that the statements of NTC chief Mustapha Abdul Jalil, in which he threatened to cut ties with countries rejecting to hand over the run-away family members of Gaddafi, "do not concern Algeria."

"There has been, so far, no arrest warrant of the International Criminal Court or the Interpol against family members of Gaddafi who are hosted in Algeria on humanitarian concern," the source specified.

The source stressed that the Libyan authorities "have not officially demanded the repatriation of Gaddafi's relatives installed in Algeria," saying that "there has been no arrest warrant against Safia, Gaddafi's wife, or his daughter and sons, namely Aisha, Hannibal and Mohammed."

Aisha Gaddafi, who made hostile remarks against the NTC, "has finally committed herself to the hosting requirements set by Algerian authorities," the source added.

An official source was quoted by Echorouk as saying that the North African nation will take part in the meeting of interior ministers of seven neighboring countries, scheduled on March 11-12 in Libya.

The meeting will discuss various security issues, including arm trafficking, border control, military coordination and counterterrorism, the official said.
