More measures in Egypt to secure presidential election
Last Updated(Beijing Time):2012-05-16 07:28

A total of about 14,500 judges will be monitoring Egypt's presidential election slated for late May, a judicial source told local media on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, a total of 65,000 public servants will assist in monitoring the electoral process in the country which ousted long- time leader Hosni Mubarak early last year, according to the official MENA news agency.

The number of the polls' sub-committees are 13,099, MENA quoted the source, which spoke on condition of anonymity, as saying.

There will also be coordination between the armed forces and the police to secure the voting sites, the judges and the voters, the report said, adding that voting cards which are difficult for forgery are being printed.

The first presidential vote after the fall of Mubarak is set to be held on May 23-24. A run-off will be held in mid-June if no one wins in the first round.

Overseas Egyptians' voting, which has started last Friday, will end on Thursday in more than one hundred countries.
