S. African leader extends condolences to super typhoon-hit Philippines

South Africa's President Jacob Zuma on Sunday expressed his condolences to the Philippines which suffered heavily from super typhoon.

"During this time of pain and suffering, particularly in the case of those who have lost loved ones, please be assured that the government and people of South Africa share in you sorrow,"said President Zuma in a statement.

On Friday, super typhoon "Haiyan" believed to the strongest cyclone in the world struck the central Philippines, leaving approximately 10,000 people dead and hundreds of thousands displaced.

President Zuma said in Pretoria,"We trust that the resilience of the people of the Philippines that has seen them through very difficult times in the past will help them overcome this great loss and devastation."
