Angolan President Jose Eduardo dos Santos on Monday expressed "deep sorrow and consternation" about the consequences of the Haiyan Typhoon in the Philippines, which left over 3600 people dead, thousands others injured and resulted in enormous material damage.
In a written message to his Philippine counterpart Benigno Aquino III, Dos Santos said "in this hour of deep consternation, caused by such a tragic event that put your country in mourning, it is my responsibility, on behalf of the Angolan government and on my own behalf, to send to Your Excellency, to the people and government of the Philippines our condolence and feeling of solidarity, which I request to be extended to the families in mourning."
"Mr President, do accept the expression of my highest regard," the Angolan leader said in the message published by Angola's official Angop news agency.
