Cuban leader, WHO chief discuss cooperation

Cuban leader Raul Castro and visiting World Health Organization (WHO) Director General Margaret Chan held talks here Friday on cooperation between the two sides.

Chan, who chaired a WHO regional meeting here On March 27-30, praised the excellence of the Cuban health system, according to an official press release.

"Cuba has set a good example for the rest of the world on health collaboration and vocational training," she was quoted as saying.

On Thursday, the WHO chief met separately with First Vice President of Council of Ministers Jose Ventura and Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez.

At Friday's closing ceremony of the Congress of Geriatrics and Gerontology, she gave a speech marking this year's World Health Day, April 7, dedicated to aging and health.
