Mexican President Felipe Calderon on Tuesday said the upcoming Group of 20 (G20) summit would focus on promoting economic stability.
Economic stability is a "precondition" for growth and job creation, he said at the World Economic Forum on Latin America held in the western Mexican city of Puerto Vallarta.
Noting that Latin America is perceived as a "land of opportunity," he stressed it is important for regional economies to promote global economic growth and create conditions that encourage investment and trade.
"The more open sectors become the most competitive," he said.
Meanwhile, the president said Mexico will also promote sustainable development, energy efficiency, green growth and funding to combat climate change at the summit.
The next G20 summit is scheduled to take place in the Pacific resort of Los Cabos in northwest Mexico in June. |
