A judge in U.S. state of Florida on Friday set the bail bond for the shooter in the killing of black teenager Trayvon Martin at 150,000 dollars.
The bond for George Zimmerman was set at a hearing held at a courtroom in Sanford, Florida. The case's judge Kenneth Lester set the conditions of Zimmerman's bond as GPS monitoring, contact with authorities every three days, no contact with the victim's family, no possession of firearms and no use of controlled substances other than prescribed by a physician.
Zimmerman, a 28-year-old neighborhood watch volunteer, shot the 17-year-old Martin on Feb. 26, claiming it was self-defense. The incident gained national attention and many, including the Martin family, believe that race was a factor.
Zimmerman was charged this month with murder in the second degree, and could face life in prison if convicted. |
