A high-school student in the U.S. state of Texas was arrested Tuesday for allegedly making a terroristic threat toward his school on the social networking site, Twitter.
The student, whose name was not released, tweeted that he was going to blow up the North Shore High School, in Harris County, at about 8:45 p.m. Monday, according to local TV channel KHOU.
Galena Park Independent School District (ISD) officials received a tip from the FBI Tuesday morning and police arrested the student, a sophomore, according to reports.
The student admitted sending the message and said he did it because he didn't want to go to school Tuesday, when classes resumed from winter break. Law enforcement officials said the student had no ability to carry out the threat, but still took action against the teen for posting the comments.
Galena Park ISD officials urged parents and guardians to remind students to be mindful of what they post to their social media sites. |
