Argentine Vice President Amado Boudou was ordered Friday by federal judge Ariel Lijo to appear in court on July 15 to answer questions about a corruption case.
The case is about the sale of Ciccone Calcografica printing company to The Old Fund firm, in which Boudou is alleged to have improperly intervened while he was economy minister back in 2010.
Boudou allegedly rescheduled Ciccone Calcografica's massive debt, saving it from bankruptcy, and acquired the company with his business partner through The Old Fund.
This is the first time in Argentine history that a sitting vice president has been ordered to appear in court.
Boudou has dismissed calls from his political opponents for his resignation, saying the case had been cooked up by his enemies.
"I will not resign or request a leave of absence," he said during an interview with local radio station Radio 10. "I am waiting patiently for the moment (to appear in court) to prove that I am innocent."
