Guinea's opposition boycotts talks with gov't

The resumption of negotiations on Monday between members of opposition parties in Guinea and the government was boycotted by the opposition leaders who described the composition of participants at the talks as incompatible to the real notion of the talks.

According to Cellou Dalein Diallo, the president of the Union of Democratic Forces of Guinea (UFDG), the talks was like holding a festivity. He said the main protagonists are not around the table.

Other political parties described the boycott as an act of segregation.

Kasory Fofana, spokesperson of the center rights said they are also rightful political parties in Guinea, and that they will attend all internal political talks.

When asked by Xinhua about his reaction to the boycott of the talks by the opposition, the talks' chairman Bishop Albert Gomez did no say a word.

Meanwhile, the secretary general of the Francophone Association, Abdoul Diop, is scheduled to arrive in Conakry on Tuesday.

Diop will meet President Alpha Conde, the prime minister and members of the opposition in a bid to peacefully resolve the ongoing political impasse for the holding of a peaceful legislative elections.

The Francophone played a significant role during the past Guinean presidential election. The former Malian chairman of the Guinean electoral commission, Toumany Sangare, was an electoral expert at the Francophone, who was sent to organize the election by the organization of French-speaking countries.
