DPRK denounces S. Korean remarks on north-south dialogue
Last Updated(Beijing Time):2012-02-13 23:35

The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) on Monday denounced recent comments by a South Korean official on north-south dialogue, the state news agency said.

A commentary in the KCNA news agency referred to recent reports that South Korean Unification Minister Yu Woo-ik had said he expected north-south talks on the Korean Peninsula to resume in mid-April but there was currently "instability" due to the change in the DPRK leadership.

The commentary denounced the remarks as "a blatant provocation," which was intended to hold the DPRK responsible for the frozen north-south relations.

It has been reported that Seoul suggested resuming the north-south dialogue on Feb. 2 and mending ties from the outset of the new year, urging the DPRK to make contact with it.

It was ridiculous for the south to talk about "resumption of dialogue," the commentary said.

It also said the DPRK would make no contact with the Lee Myung-Bak government unless it answers a set of questions sent publicly by the DPRK on Feb. 2 about South Korea's fitness to be a dialogue partner.
