Ten operational defects found in Fukushima No.1 nuclear power plant

The Japan Nuclear and Industrial Safety Agency said that an investigation has found about 10 operational defects in the crippled Fukushima No.1 nuclear power plant.

The Japan Nuclear and Industrial Safety Agency has just finished the first examination through out the Fukushima No.1 nuclear power plant, devastated by the March 11 earthquake and tsunami nearly a year ago.

An official from the Agency said, the 19-day investigation, begun Feb.6, found about 10 flaws in several aspects including security preparation and operation monitoring.

The inspection has checked the water cooling system that keeps the reactors shut down, interviewed the staff of Tokyo Electric Power Co., and accessed the documents in the power plant.

The agency will compose a report about the inspection results with more details in two weeks.
