Thailand to compensate Japanese journalist killed in political violence |

Thai government has approved to pay compensation to the family of a Japanese journalist who was killed during the anti-government rally in 2010, reports said Tuesday.
Hiroyuki Muramoto, a Reuter news agency.cameraman, was filming clashes between red-shirt protesters and security forces in Bangkok on April 10, 2010 before being shot dead.
Following the cabinet meeting on Tuesday, Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra announced a compensation payment to the victim 's family and promised to send a letter of condolence, the Bangkok Post reported.
"He is eligible for compensation like other victims," she said.
Yingluck left Bangkok later in the day for a four-day official visit to Japan. Due to tight schedule, she is not expected to meet Muramoto's family there. |
